South of England

Loomies, West Meon, Hampshire

Motorcycle News described Loomies in 2017 as a popular meeting spot, more of a "clubhouse" than a café, at the junction of the A32 and A272 on Alton Road in West Meon. It said the café was open seven days a week with a late close on Wednesdays for bike night, that all the staff were bikers, and that facilities included a helmet rack, a visor cleaning station and a snug end with sofas and a wood-burning stove. It also noted that long-standing customers had saved it from closure and that it worked with charities including the Hampshire Air Ambulance. This was written in 2017, so confirm current details with the cafe.

Ryka's Cafe, Box Hill, Surrey

Devitt Insurance's list says Ryka's has been open since the early 1920s, with a large car park and regular events.

Route 1066 Cafe, Robertsbridge

On the A21 at Robertsbridge, East Sussex, this cafe is listed as hosting summer bike nights and welcoming all types of bike.

Super Sausage Cafe, near Towcester

Devitt's guide says Super Sausage Cafe at Towcester won Britain's Best Cafe in 2016 and has a five-star TripAdvisor rating. The same guide notes that Jack's Hill Cafe in the Towcester area, once known for its large truck-stop car park, is now closed.

London

North Wales

Ponderosa Cafe, Horseshoe Pass, near Llangollen

Devitt Insurance describes the Ponderosa as a family-run cafe at the summit of the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen, Denbighshire, about 1,400 feet above sea level. It says the cafe is one of the best-known in North Wales, a well-known meeting spot for riders with many visitors in summer, and often a place to see classic British bikes such as Triumph, BSA, Vincent and AJS. It reports extensive parking and a large refurbished cafe, and lists weekday opening 9am to 4.45pm and weekends 8am to 5.30pm. Another guide notes that it offers a B&B service and suits touring riders. Hours may have changed, so please check opening times before you ride.

Scotland

The Green Welly Stop on the A82 at Tyndrum and Crianlarich is listed in Devitt's guide as a popular stop with a large car park and regular bike nights.

Tips for touring riders

If you are travelling between these places, plan fuel stops, since remote roads in Wales and Scotland can have long gaps between petrol stations. Allow more time than the map suggests: hill roads, farm traffic and tourists slow you down. Book accommodation ahead in summer if you want to stay near the Horseshoe Pass or on the A82. Take layers and waterproofs, and carry spare gloves, because the weather in the hills can be very different from the weather at home.
